The epidemiological situation of Covid-19 during recent months in Albania.

During January/February it was recorded a high number, not only of positive cases with Covid, but also a high number of deaths. This showed that the country went through a second wave of the pandemic. In that timeframe, the number of infected people was over 1000 every 24 hours, while every 24 hours 18 or 20 people lost their lives.

Currently, the number of infected patients with Covid-19 in our country seems to have decreased significantly compared to the beginning of the year in Albania, but also compared to the current situation in other countries in the region. The number of infected patients has dropped every 24 hours to nearly 200 and the number of people that are losing their lives is 6 or 7 people per day.

The situation in hospitals in the capital is stable and in within capacity. We can also say the same for the regional hospitals in major cities.
Experts attribute the decline of new Covid-19 cases in our country, to the rising temperatures of the weather, as well as the vaccination process, which began on January 11-th. Until now about 350 thousand people have been vaccinated, including doctors, teachers, pharmacists, policemen, people with chronic diseases and age groups above 60 years of age.
