International Nurses Day is celebrated every 12th of May, as the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of nursing.
It was created to celebrate the role of the Nurse in the healthcare system and to appreciate the tireless work they do every day whether in the hospital, maternity ward, ambulance, or clinic.

The Covid-19 pandemic has revealed globally the weaknesses in the health system and the pressures under which nurses are working.
During this pandemic nurses were on the side of doctors and other health care professionals on the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19.
They played a fundamental role in treating patients and managing the spread of the virus. This pandemic has also given due importance to the incredible commitment and courage of the nurses.
